Where the Sea and Mountains Meet...

Slieve Foye is a mountain on the Cooley Peninsula in Louth, Ireland. It rises to 589 metres, making it the highest of the Cooley Mountains and the highest in Louth. It overlooks Carlingford Lough and the village of Carlingford, and is sometimes called Carlingford Mountain.

This is a very rewarding hike and not too hard, we met numerous other families out hiking Slieve Foye at the same time as us. You could park the car at the Slieve Foye Viewing Point and then hike up the mountain to take in magnificent views of Carlingford Lough. If you're up for a walk at the seaside, take a short drive from Carlingford towards Shore Road, Ballagan, Greenore, where you'd find a beautiful pebblestone beach.
