There are so many changes
happening in this stage of life.
Between constant mood swings and
this new found independence but also feeling like you are not quite ready to take on the world,
it could be a daunting and frightful place to be for a tween or teen.
IF YOU CAN RELATE, THE CHANCES ARE
YOUR TWEEN IS EXPERIENCING SOMETHING SIMILAR TOO,
BUT THERE IS A WAY YOU CAN HELP THEM!
If you’re a mother of a tween or teen
girl or boy aged 10-14,
and want to help them feel more
beautiful & confident in themselves
right now
I AM ME PROJECT
EMPOWERED . CONFIDENT . YOUTH
Our primary duty as a parent is to protect and care for our children and while this can be rewarding on many occasions when our children are thriving, it can also be difficult and make you feel helpless when they are going through their own inner turmoils that they can’t even sometimes understand themselves.
I’ve been there myself when I was a tween and I wished there was a magic solution to overcoming all of those inner voices that kept telling me I wasn’t good enough, I wasn’t pretty enough or worthy of anyone’s friendship and love.
I’ve two girls aged 10 and 19 now and I have seen my eldest go through it all, and now my youngest starting to experience it. It’s really heartbreaking to witness and it’s not always easy to help them through it.
While there isn’t a magical one-click solution to quieten those inner voices,
there is a way that we could help our tweens + teens to build on their self-worth
and have an unshakable confidence in who they are right now
through beautiful photos of themselves and positive words from their family
and the closest people they look up to!

SO HOW DO
I AM ME
TWEEN + TEEN PHOTO SESSIONS
help them feel uplifted and better about themselves
It’s more than a photo session!
It’s a chance for your child to be involved and have a say in what they want to wear, show off their hobbies and things they’re into at this stage of their lives, choose where they would like their photo session to be and what kind of music they would like to listen to during the session, but most importantly – it’s a chance to express themselves and have fun!
Secretly, I will be asking parents and some of tween’s closest people they admire, to send me their most heartfelt words they would like to say about their tween or teen. I will later use those encouraging words together with the photos in an emotive slideshow to surprise them and to show this amazing young person just how incredible and loved they are by their nearest and dearest!
Photos with positive words will then get printed as a keepsake album so that tween + teen could refer to it as a personal pep talk any time they feel they need a reminder on how amazing, smart and beautiful they are and how much love their family and friends have for them.
Imagine the impact beautiful images mixed with heartfelt words
can do for your tween’s confidence & self-image!
Add music to it and it’s guaranteed to get the waterworks flowing
for the entire family!
Why did I start I Am Me Project?
Tweens + teens are constantly being pushed unrealistic beauty standards through social & publishing media outlets these days. Various apps that have filters to alter appearance enable people to change their perceived imperfections at a click of a button resulting in loss of authenticity and all of those little quirks that make each young person
who they truly are.
As a mam, those quirks are the kind of things I teach my children to embrace and to love about them, as that is what makes them special and unique. I’d love nothing more than to preserve their perfectly imperfect features through beautiful photographs. My children may not see the true impact of them now but
they will absolutely adore and appreciate having those memories when they’re older.
I’m sure you could relate to this too, but there is even more to it!
Below is a photo of me at age ten, one of maybe 4 or 5 photos from me being a tween and teen.
I love looking back at it and seeing some of my features coming through in my girls as they’re getting older and reaching the same age. I wish I had more of the photos to look through and compare, but my mam has only a handful of photographs of me from those years. It’s like I haven’t even existed during that period and
I’m on a mission to ensure you have a printed record of your tween’s + teen’s existence!
Time is fleeting
The changes that our children go through in a relatively short period of time are huge. The difference in them when they’re age 10 and when they’re 15 is like night and day. The metamorphosis that happens during this period is fascinating and well worth documenting so they learn to love their freckles, adore their braces-filled-smiles, and proudly embrace the “geek” status given by their peers just because they wear glasses.
A keepsake of love & encouragement
Tweens + teens don’t normally like public affections from their parents. This way you get to show your child all the ways you SEE them, love them, and are proud of them as well as leaving them with a tangible keepsake to refer to over and over again when they feel they need a good pick me up.
Confidence-building photo experience
Your tween + teen gets to be fully involved in their photo session planning stages as well as during the session. This helps in building their self-esteem and allows their creativity to shine which in turn paves a way for them to be more open to being in the photos in the future. This way you get to have more than just a handful of photographs from their tween/teen years.
The ripple effect
I’d love to reach as many families as I can through this project, but if this experience only helps a very few tweens + teens and makes their lives that bit easier to navigate, if it empowers them to uplift and help their peers to be more confident and comfortable in themselves – my heart would be full and I would consider this a huge success! The ripple effect amplifies when we influence and support others!
